Priyesh comes from a family of five. His father works as a labourer in a factory, and his mother is a housewife. Priyesh has three brothers: the eldest, 18 years old, is studying BCA; another is in the 10th grade, and the youngest is in the 7th grade. Priyesh himself is a student in the 5th grade.
Priyesh’s day began like any other. He returned home from school at 1 PM, had lunch, and then went out to play. He met his 10-year-old friend Ayush, and together they roamed around their neighborhood. Their playful adventures led them to the Shiva temple and eventually to Bijwasan railway station. While playing there, they unknowingly boarded a train that took them to Delhi Cantt railway station. Lost and worried, they wandered around platform 1, unsure how to get back home and unable to contact their families.
At 5:30 PM, RCI staff found Priyesh and Ayush standing on platform 1, looking distressed. They brought the boys to the Child Help Desk, where Priyesh shared details about his family and daily routine. Despite the information he provided, Priyesh couldn’t recall his family’s contact number. RCI staff reassured him and explained their role in helping children like him.
RCI staff took Priyesh to the GRP Police Station. The police questioned him, but he still couldn’t remember his family’s contact details. The police made a General Diary (GD) entry and took Priyesh to D.D.U. hospital for a medical examination. Afterward, Priyesh was placed in BSOS home for the night.
The next day, Priyesh was taken to the Mayur Vihar Phase 1 Child Welfare Committee (CWC), where his family was also present. All necessary documents were verified, and following CWC’s order, Priyesh was reunited with his family.
RCI ensured Priyesh’s basic needs were met and made him feel safe throughout the process. They explained the importance of informing someone before leaving the house and reassured him that he wouldn’t be punished. Despite being dropped off at home by neighbours, Priyesh, out of fear, left the house again and was missing for a night. He returned the next day, and RCI staff helped him understand that no one would harm him and that he should not be afraid.
RCI continues to follow up with Priyesh to ensure his well-being. They check if he faces any problems, whether he stays at home, and if he attends school regularly. This ongoing support helps Priyesh feel secure and understood, reinforcing the importance of staying in touch with his family and staying safe.
