Strengthening child safeguarding systems

We are guided by a value framework that is committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all children. These values define how we set our organizational goals, interact with children, select and sustain partners, and build a protection ecosystem for children through our daily work. We bridge the gaps in social and government systems and are leading the change to improve laws, policies and practices needed to better protect vulnerable children.

As experts in the field of street-connected children, we work with governments, alongside NGOs and with committees to make sure vulnerable children are recognised and protected on all levels.

  • We work with child protection systems and stakeholders giving them the tools they need to protect children, building their capacity and filling gaps in service provision by encouraging a child-centred approach to their work
  • When stakeholders are equipped with knowledge on how to safeguard children, they work creatively while dealing with children. We have seen evidence of stakeholders creating their own safeguarding mechanisms for children across railway stations, shelter homes etc, when they are empowered.
  • Guided by the belief that schools must be safe spaces for children, we developed a teacher training module on child safeguarding focused on strengthening the capacity of teachers to better protect children. With updated skills and knowledge, a preventive approach to protecting children can be created by teachers within the school and beyond.
