#ThankYouTeamRailwayChildrenIndia – Celebrating A Week of Gratitude from Parents, Neighbours & Well-Wishers
Imagine what it feels like to wake up in the morning and not see your child in his room? To learn that your child’s admission was revoked because you went to your village? To run around the neighbourhood for hours and still see no traces of your child? To see your children wasting away their lives away from school?
This week, mothers, fathers, neighbours, well-wishers from afar were reunited with their children, many others enrolled back into school and still others waiting to take their children back home from across Delhi, Mathura, Gorakhpur and other locations. They share their stories of fear and anticipation, of guilt and worry, but also of comfort and hope… because our teams were there for their children, right when they needed them.
Hear what they have to say to our team members:
“When we came to take the girls back and we met the team, we felt really comfortable, like we belonged to this place. They shared the details, processes and information about the girls in a way that made us a lot at ease. I wonder what we would have done without them…where would our girls be, how would be find them? That’s why, with all my heart, I thank the Railway Children India family and pray that more organizations like these grow and thrive across the country so that every child who has lost his way… finds their way to safety. My faith in humanity is restored once again.”
– Bansidhar Yadav, Pradhan, Ganpath Gorakhpur shares his story as he awaits final completion of paperwork to take 3 young girls from his village back to their home
“My child was very sick, and the doctor suggested that we go back to our village for him to recover and get well again. So, I took him to the village, and he got well. But in the process, he lost his admission on school. It was the Bhaiya from Railway Children India who helped get him readmitted and that’s why he goes to school today.”
– Rinki Devi, Mother, Daya Basti, Delhi shares her joy on learning that her son was reenrolled to school
“My neighbour’s son was missing since 9 am yesterday morning. We ran helter-skelter to find him, took a lot of efforts, his mother worried sick, until this morning we got a call from the Ghaziabad Railway Station. They told us that the boy had shared this number with them and that they had found him! I will thank the team of Railway Children India again and again. You have been of great help to us and brought back our child…From the bottom of my heart … thank you!”
– Mahavir, Neighbour, Mathura district shares with gratitude on being reunited with with the boy who is like a son to him, waiting to take him back to his mother
“Earlier, my children never studied. The team helped our children get admission in school. Today they are learning and studying and going to school only because of them. We feel a lot of pride and happiness see them go to school wearing a uniform. They are learning good things and studying well. After school, they even go to the Activity Centre to study and learn some more. Today, because of their support my children are on the right track.”
– Yashodha Devi, Mother, Kisanganj Community, Delhi narrates the transformation she seems in her children after they met the team and got enrolled into school
