Each year, 2nd April is observed as World Autism Awareness Day, with the aim to raise awareness about the autism spectrum disorder—a range of conditions characterized by some degree of impaired social behavior, communication and language, and a narrow range of interests and activities that are both unique to the individual and carried out repetitively.
According to a 2018 study, in India, 1 in 100 children above the age of 10 has autism.
Yet, if one thinks about it, our conversations around this subject are limited only to a particular day. Add to that the social stigma associated with the disorder, it is safe to say that there is need for more awareness.
These powerful ad campaigns from around the world take a creative route at spreading awareness, highlighting the importance of early detection, and educating the general populous on common signs of autism.
